Null Layer

A Null Layer is an invisible control point. It has a transform, an anchor, and everything else a layer has — but nothing renders in the viewport.

Nulls are how you rig complex scenes. Parent several layers to one null, then animate the null alone — every child follows. No need to set keyframes on each layer.

Create one with ⌘⌥⇧Y or from the Layer menu, or right-click (New > Null Layer) an empty area in the Viewport or Timeline.
