Your First Project

When you open Plate, a blank composition is already waiting. Click the shape icon in the toolbar to drop a rectangle into the viewport — or pick a different shape from the caret next to it. Shift-click instead to create it filling the comp.

With the shape selected, press P to reveal its Position in the timeline. Press Shift+P to set a keyframe at the playhead. Scrub the playhead forward, drag the shape to a new spot in the viewport, and Plate adds a second keyframe automatically.

Press Space to play it back.

That’s the loop: shape, keyframe, scrub, keyframe, play. Everything else in Plate builds on it.
